The regeneration of Radcliffe town centre has been important since its selection by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, as one of his town centre challenge schemes. The Radcliffe Times Building, which was originally constructed in 1899, was gutted by a fire in 2009 and had remained derelict ever since. The building was an iconic feature on the high street and its current look was detrimental to the feel of the town centre. Working with a developer, Bury Council gained planning permission for the conversion of the existing building in to 6, 1-bedroomed apartments and additionally gained permission to construct 4 additional new build apartments on the adjacent land.

The council saw the conversion of this building as a crucial step in its regeneration of Radcliffe town centre and also, the dual benefit of giving much needed affordable housing in the area. A key element of the works was to retain the original buildings character and heritage. In order to do this the brickwork lettering and detailing was restored and original bricks repointed and cleaned wherever possible, with new matching bricks used where required. Thanks to a strong working relationship between Arcus, the contractor and Bury Council, all works were handed over to an extremely high standard.
