Congleton Town Hall is a Grade II* listed building owned and operated by the Town Council. The front of the property houses a cafe to one side and a tourist information office to the other. The first floor houses The Bridestone Suite and the Spencer Suite, both of which are used for functions, training, conferences etc. The second floor houses the Council staff and associated offices. To the rear of the property is the Main Hall. This grand room, which has a balcony to three sides, is used for civil wedding ceremonies, concerts, fayres etc.

The works comprised of two distinct elements – Equality Act  improvement works (previously covered the DDA) and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) works. The Town Hall had been identified as not being readily accessible for disabled users/visitors. It had also suffered from a lack of maintenance over the years and had started to require numerous reactive repairs. The Town Hall required a sympathetic approach to ensure this 18th Century building provided 21st Century accommodation and facilities, which complied to current regulations without compromising the original features.
