Arcus was employed by Bury Council to assist in the delivery of the Wave 1 Retrofit works on the Chesham Estate in Bury. At the time of Arcus’ appointment, most of the retrofit assessment and designs had been completed and the contractor was ready to commence with works.
The scheme involved the complex nature of differing measures to be completed to bungalows, flats and houses on the estate, which comprised of traditionally built properties using Accrington Brick surmounted pitched tiled roofs. Works included:
- Provision of external wall insulations
- Solar panels
- LED lighting
- Loft insulation
- Insulated trap hatches
- Window replacement
- Door replacements
- Ventilation works
Due to extreme bad weather and ground complications, the scheme faced several challenges. The proactive approach of both Arcus’ team and the contractor meant all works were delivered in line with the original programme and funding timetable. As a result of the success of the programme, Arcus and the contractor have both been re-engaged to complete similar roles in delivery of the Wave 2 works which are to take place to the remaining 150 properties across the estate.
