Arcus were initially employed for the provision of a new medical centre acting as Employer’s Agent on behalf of the Parish Council. Early on during the works, funds were also for the refurbishment of the Festival Hall. Arcus worked with the Parish Council to agree a brief and prepare a specification to be priced by the main contractor on a single build contract for all works. Additional funds were also received for a Hospitality Suite to be added to the side of the building, funded by a local business.

A key feature of project success was our close relationship with the practitioners who would be using the building. We introduced handover checks which identified over 50 items which required signing off for the completion of works, including three visits by the Infection Control Nurse. Arcus also organised a fit-out day with the Doctors, where we provided a mock-up of typical consulting and small operations rooms in order for them to review the positioning of all electrical, mechanical equipment etc to reduce the potential for issues as we reached the completion stage. This identified key changes that were needed in relation to how the Doctors circulate and work within their rooms, which reduced the requirement for reworked items later in the project

The project was handed over 7 days ahead of programme, giving good time for the Doctors to be fully trained and inducted into the building’s operation and processes, and importantly, service installations.
