Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre

Arcus are thrilled to be Lead Consultant on the Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre (SBIC), providing Principal Designer, Architect, Project Manager, Structural and Mechanical Engineering services.

The £1.2million project will see the SBIC transformed into a state-of-the-art hub for young people, designed to give them new opportunities to enhance their wellbeing, have fun, grow their self-confidence, and gain valuable skills for life and work. By extending the building and installing a new mezzanine office level we are able to provide a larger, flexible event space specifically designed with learning and classroom activities in mind.

Arcus Associate Partner and Senior Architectural Technologist on the scheme, Peter Gavin, commented: “it’s been a privilege engaging with the SBIC board and the wider community to revitalise this important cultural hub that will provide much need facilities for all ages. The proposals have been designed to not only extend it’s lifespan but also its reach and prominence in the local area.”

Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre vice chair Syen Shoyjhas Miah hands over the contract to Principal Contractor Arcus’ Richard Gagen to officially start the £1.2m renovation work.
