We’re delighted to announce that a new housing development built as part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s new homes programme has won ‘best affordable housing development – less than £20 million’ at the Inside Housing Development Awards 2023.
Arcus provided Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveying services on the development. Kelso Cochrane House on Kensal Road, Kensington, provides 38 new homes for social rent, a medical centre and a convenience store for the local community. All the homes utilise a greener heating system, insulated walls and thermally efficient windows and doors to retain heat.
The house was named in memory of Kelso Cochrane, who was murdered in Notting Hill in May 1959. No one has ever been convicted for his killing, and his family and friends continue the fight for justice to this day. A naming ceremony for the building was held on Wednesday 17 May 2023 – the anniversary of his death to ensure Kelso is remembered and never forgotten.
