Sophie works out of our Manchester Office as our SHEQ Coordinator. We asked her a few questions to get to know her better…
How long have you worked at Arcus and what was your previous background?
13 years in September 2021. Previously I worked as a Senior SHEQ Manager, managing a team of SHEQ Coordinators in the Utility Contractor Industry. This involved a lot of travelling and most my time spent on sites.
What’s your typical workday like?
My work days focus around making sure everything is in place with regards to SHEQ in the Practice. This includes creating and checking documents and visiting offices to check everything is as it should be. All the tasks required to keep Arcus legally compliant and our ISO Certifications maintained.
What’s your favourite aspect of your job?
I enjoy the variety of my job but mostly knowing that what I do benefits everyone. I know some parts may seem small but having these things in place makes sure people go home as safely as possible everyday, and that’s why I do it.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family; Stuart my husband, my 2 girls, more recently my Mum and Dad and our crazy Cockerpoo. I come from a large family and they’re the most important thing to me. When I get some time to myself I love to garden (mainly growing veg), having a go at all sort of crafts and I love to cook.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what one item would you take with you?
Probably another person I enjoy spending time with as I love company.
