Meet the Team – Kevin

Kevin works out of our Manchester Office as a Senior Architectural Technologist. We asked him a few questions to get to know him better…

Hi Kevin, how long have you worked at Arcus and what was your previous background?

I have been working at Arcus for over 6 years, since  I was brought in as Senior Technologist in the Manchester architectural team.  Before joining Arcus, I was self-employed doing contract work at various architectural practices and running my own business providing architectural design services on small domestic projects.

What’s your typical workday like?

Although I do work on architectural projects from inception to completion, generally I’m involved in producing construction information for our clients or when novated, to contractors.  My time is usually split between visiting sites, design team meetings, and mainly in front of my computer screen.  Although, this last year I have rarely been anywhere else other than sat in front of my computer at home!  I’m also involved in producing our in-house 3D visuals and over the last couple of years have started to look at our virtual reality models.

What’s your favourite aspect of your job?

I really enjoy working from scratch on a new building project.  I like building the proposed development in my computer model and I love producing the VR models and the CGI renders.  It’s this part that gets me through all the admin required for the job!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work I spend time with my wife and kids (usually doing as I am told).  I like hiking with my dog Fred and I coach a junior football team, but most importantly playing golf.  I’m not very good at it but that’s not my reason for playing.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what one item would you take with you?

My golf clubs because at least I would have plenty of time for practice.
