The Arcus Manchester office are the 'New Champions' of the Annual RICS Matrics Greater Manchester 5-a-side Football Tournament.
This years tournament was held at the Trafford Park’s Powerleague Soccerdome, which hosted 18 teams made up of Architects, Consultants and Contractors from the Greater Manchester area.
Following last years disappointing loss in the final, the team from Arcus in Manchester were keen to take that extra step by winning gold this year.
The team got off to a good start by finishing top of their group. Unbeaten and overcoming some very tough teams, some stubborn defending from Fergus Lowry and key match-winning goals from Daniel Baluk and Thomas Nawn (who was also the teams top goalscorer), the team moved on to the final round.
Along the way to the final Arcus had to overcome a nervous penalty shoot-out with reigning champions Savills. However consistent finishing (and some good luck!!) ensured that a repeat result of last years final was not to be.
The final game was very competitive and was won 4-3 with a composed last minute match winner by David Farr to conclude the game. Whilst Arcus were never behind during the game, it was definitely a tense affair which provided a great spectacle for the spectators and capped off what was another very enjoyable tournament for all parties involved.
